| We will be driving two Honda XRV 750 Africa Twin -02. This motorcycle
is the one that we consider to be the best at handling both fast European
roads as well as Africa's changing road conditions. These motorcycles
are among the most reliable bikes you can ride, which is a must as
you may face a 35 mile ride through desert terrain. |
|

Our Twins are equipped with...
• GPS
• 9,5 British gallons (43 liters) petrol tank
• Central prop
• Protective frames
• Alarm
• Compressor |

To keep the weight down, we only bring the most essential equipment.
We use complete motocross equipment and rain gear from Alpinestars.
Our ordinary clothes come from Haglöfs and some of it is base
layer, windstopper jacket, boots, sandals and a Gore-Tex-suit.
During the nights we camp in a Hilleberg Staika tent. If the
nights are warm the outer tent can be removed and the inner tent can
be used as a big mosquito net. We are sleeping in light down sleeping
bags from Mountain Equipment on self-inflating Therm-a-Rest
mattresses.
When we are cooking we use Optimus Nova multi-fuel kitchen,
which works with most fuels. To keep the weight down, pots, cutlery,
mugs and fuel bottles are made of titanium. To have drinkable water
whenever we need, we use an MSR water cleaner and a virus killer.
Our medical equipment includes things like: antibiotics, malaria prophylaxis,
adrenalin shots (in case of snake and scorpion bites), scalpel, syringes
and so on.
We will update our web site so you can follow our journey and see
photos regularly. To do that we use a lap top computer, cameras from
Canon and Konica, a GSM phone and a satellite phone
from Telia Mobile.
The equipment is packed in tank bags and lockable aluminium cases
from Touretech. The motorcycles are also equipped with alarms
from Defa.
